About Us
Mike and Nicola have created a family friendly place where muddy boots, paws and bikes are always welcome, the pair of them established the Apiary @ Dalwhinnie so you get the feeling of walking into their front room and being treated like framily (Friends that are family) , the Apiary creates good comforting food and does your washing up. They have roots here too, Mike is ¼ Scottish and has roots to the Macintosh Clan.
Nicki has friends in Inverness and they swear that she is part Scottish too. Mike and Nicki have spent the last 10 or so years travelling to the Highlands at least twice a year and now was the right time to move and make Dalwhinnie their home.
Mike is a beekeeper, enthusiastic cook and coffee lover, Nicki is a sweet fiend and cake maker. In 2014 Mike decided that he needed to develop the knowledge base of the public and wanted to bring bees, coffee and cake together. With a local designer they came up with the bee logo you see, the original drawing still hung in the Apiary Harleston and with it the idea for the original cake and coffee house was born. Mike is still asked about the bees and what they do and how they work and has educated many an individual on what to do and where to seek more information.
